In
today's political climate it has become increasingly important
for election officials to be knowledgeable in election laws and
the procedures used in polling places. The laws that
govern the voting process are complicated and can be confusing.
A recently developed course will expand the knowledge of
precinct officials and result in a certification.
Elections Process and Precinct Officials Certification is
offered by the Carteret County Board of Elections and Carteret
Community College. During this eighteen hour course
participants will learn about North Carolina election laws,
election planning, and procedures used in the polling place.
The course is designed for current and prospective poll workers,
in addition to concerned citizens desiring more information
about the election system. An exam must be successfully
completed for certification. Certified election officials
will be paid an additional $25 per election.
The course fee is $65 and includes all instructional material.
North Carolina residents 65 years of age and older may take one
continuing education fee waived class per semester, excluding
self-supporting classes. |
